If you have had a bad experience with a previous puppy purchased, it may help to look for a breeder that is within the city limits.

7. Look for breeders within the city limits of the nearby town in which they live.

If you purchase an unhealthy puppy outside of the city limits 
 (meaning the pet was purchased in the county),
there is nothing that the SPCA, Humane Society, or Animal Control can do to help resolve disputes because it is out of their jurisdiction.
Many breeders close the door in your face and will not bother to return your calls if your puppy dies or has health problem after 48 hours.

Our Pet Boutique has always been located within the city limits of our past and present location and has never ever had any complaints for selling or raising unclean or unhealthy puppies.

8. Beware of breeders that don't accept anonymous calls or calls from a private number. Regardless of what excuse they use most of them are avoiding a upset or angry customer.

The process for purchasing a puppy at our location can take up to one or two hours, especially if you are a new puppy owner. Most of it depends on you and how much time you need. Our purchase agreement is very detailed and offers much information for new puppy owners. We will be happy to answer any and all of your questions.

We will also teach you how to care for your new puppy and offer a free pet training session on how to house-train your puppy using the crate training method which they have already started at our location.

Read more about the training your puppy receives at our location before going to his / her new home. We also offer information about keeping your puppy parvo free, how to care for a puppy that becomes hypoglycemic and we provide 24 hour, 7 day a week assistance to our customers.
We will be happy to take your puppy to our veterinarian for health care if needed according to our health guarantee.

There are many great breeders out there and we feel that if we can help you to recognize warning signs to watch that could save you money as well as a heart breaking experience. We receive e-mails and phone calls at least once a week about bad breeders and don't want anyone to be taken advantage of. Some of them tell me the puppy they purchased died less than 10 days from the day they purchased it. And the breeder closed the door in their faces and left them empty handed. I have a list of breeders about whom I get frequent complaints.

If you plan to take a chance on purchasing a puppy from a breeder that offers a short health guarantees, and they sell you a unhealthy puppy, please take a minute to send us the name, number and location of that breeder so that we can warn other people that plan to purchase a puppy from them. This must be a legitimate complaint.

For example one of the reasons I added a "caution to beware of breeders in the county" is because there are two breeders in East Texas that I get lots of complaints about. We also get a tons of complaints from the Balch Springs pet shops. For legal reasons I cannot list their names on my web site. I will be happy to help you or anyone who comes to me for advice on purchasing a puppy. Caution!! Parvo Puppies?

A cautious breeder may even ask you to wash your hands with a disinfecting cleaner so don't be offended, they are not looking at you as a dirty person. They are only protecting their current and future customers as well as their beloved pets. Parvo virus is highly contagious, it can be spread through saliva, feces and nose-to-nose contact. An example of the virulence of the disease can be seen, by looking at kennels, which allow prospective puppy buyers in to view their pets. Eighty percent of deaths in puppies that die within 10 days of of their purchased was caused by Parvo, Coccidia or Giardia which could have possibly been prevented if a stool sample was taken on the first office visit to the vet. ( Puppies will have blood in their stool with Parvo or Coccidia ) That is why is very important to have a stool sample taken within 3 days of the time you purchase a new puppy.

Don't be alarmed if the breeder you purchased your puppy from strongly suggests that you give your puppy pedialyte mixed with purified water and Syrup or Honey and one or two doses of Nutri Cal and Albon the first week it is with you. The Albon is for puppies and dogs with stomach virus symptoms caused by parasites or irritations in their digestive system. This information is one of the biggest ounces of prevention a breeder can give you. Sometimes dogs get a nervous stomach from being changed to a new environment. Breeders may also send you home with a recipe for sweetened drinking water as shown above. If the puppy's digestive system is irritated they will lose their appetite and become dehydrated and weak which causes their sugar level to drop. They can have seizures like a diabetic without insulin. Most puppies have a hard time overcoming it and normally die if they do not get emergency medical treatment.

DON'T WAIT AROUND FOR YOUR PUPPY TO GET BETTER IF HE / SHE IS ALREADY LETHARGIC AND WEAK. PUPPIES IN THIS CONDITION NORMALLY DON'T LIVE PAST 24 HOURS IF THEY DON'T GET HELP.

Many breeders are now offering Albon and a recipe for sweetened water for small puppies. Advantage flea control is recommended to help keep puppies from getting fleas which cause tape worms.
